Over the years, Samrakshan has developed as a field research station for various scholars working on issues of dryland livelihoods, displacement, conservation-livelihood linkages and rain-fed agriculture. Students from prestigious universities in India and abroad have collaborated with Samrakshan. The field team at Samrakshan is well-versed in various field based data collection methods. The fact that the team is drawn from the local community has been of immense help to researchers, allowing them to gain easy access to respondents for their fieldwork.
The Samrakshan Trust has two campuses in village Agraa, and can accommodate up to 45 students in the dormitories of its Training and Resource Center (TRC). The campus has basic facilities like shared residential space, home-cooked meals, local transport facilities, electricity and power back up, and basic telephone and internet connectivity. In addition, arrangements can be made with pre-identified families from the local community that can provide home-stay facilities to students if required. This can provide a unique opportunity for students to interact closely with villagers and understand first-hand the gamut of issues relating to environment and development. Samrakshan’s residential campus in village Agraa can comfortably accommodate up to 5 senior researchers/faculty members.
